History of TATRA insurance company started in 1940 when Tatra poisťujúca účastinná spoločnosť was established in Bratislava. In May 2008 it reached 100% share of stocks of Poisťovňa Tatra Poštová banka, a. s. By this purchase, the insurance company became a member of Poštová banka group. In accordance with the vision of the group to "be a leader in provision of basic financial services in small towns and villages", the insurance company prepares important changes in its further strategic orientation. With the effect of 14/06/2008, Poisťovňa Tatra changed its commercial name to Poisťovňa Poštovej banky, a. s.
